Campus Safety Project Launched under State and District Disaster Management Authorities
A Campus Safety Project has been launched in 11 selected colleges in Alappuzha district under the leadership of the State and District Disaster Management Authorities. The project aims to enhance campus security and promote disaster preparedness. The first training session was conducted for members of the Campus Rapid Action Team at Alappuzha S.D. College.
The training was led by officials from the Health Department, Fire Department, State Disaster Management Authority, and District Disaster Management Authority. Similar sessions will be conducted in the other selected colleges.
As part of the project, disaster management committees will be established in all 11 colleges. Each college will form a Campus Rapid Action Team comprising 100 selected students, who will receive training in disaster management. The initiative aims to train a total of 1,000 students across the district. Additionally, customised college safety plans will be prepared for each institution.
Through these measures, the project will strengthen campus security, improve disaster preparedness, and equip students with the skills to respond effectively in emergencies. This initiative lays the foundation for a comprehensive system to uphold safety standards in all colleges across the district.
