Valayam and Perumanna Achieve 100% Digital Literacy Under DigiKeralam Scheme
Under the DigiKeralam scheme, Valayam and Perumanna became the first village panchayats in the district to achieve 100% digital literacy. A total of 2,519 learners in Valayam and 2,543 in Perumanna were identified through surveys and trained in basic digital skills. The project was made possible by collaborating with people's representatives, officials, Kudumbashree workers, NSS volunteers, Asha workers, Anganwadi teachers, and other community organizations.To further the goal of making all district residents over the age of 14 digitally literate, the District Local Self-Government Department is organizing the Digi Week Camp. This campaign aims to achieve 100% digital literacy in the district. Surveys and training programs are being coordinated at the ward and division levels, involving various agencies. Volunteers registered through the DigiKerala app, will carry out the surveys, training, and evaluations.Volunteers will survey households assigned by local self-government bodies via the DigiKerala portal. Those identified as lacking digital literacy will receive training in 15 subjects related to basic digital skills, delivered in three phases. After each phase, participants will be evaluated online, with multiple opportunities to pass the assessments. Upon completion, a digital progress card will be available in the app. Local bodies that successfully implement these steps will be declared fully digitally literate.
