CSML Launches ‘Parkochi’ App for Smarter Parking in the City
Cochin Smart Mission Limited (CSML) has introduced the Parkochi mobile app to streamline vehicle parking in the city. Developed in collaboration with Kochi Corporation, GCDA, Metro, and the District Tourism Promotion Council (DTPC), the app-based system integrates parking centres across these agencies.
With Parkochi, users can access real-time information on parking availability, book slots in advance, and make digital payments. Digital boards installed at parking centres display real-time availability, with data fed from cameras monitoring the spaces.
The app will initially cover 51 locations, including metro stations, boat jetties, Durbar Hall Ground, and Vyttila Mobility Hub, offering a total of 2,652 parking spaces. Currently in its pilot phase, the app’s functionality will be evaluated before its full rollout.
As part of efforts to make Kochi’s transportation system more efficient and commuter-friendly, the app aims to ease parking congestion. The parking distribution includes 692 spaces across 17 metro stations, 1,213 spaces in 13 GCDA locations, 164 spaces in four corporation locations, 160 spaces in two DTPC locations, and 100 spaces at the Vyttila Mobility Hub.
Once fully launched, Parkochi is expected to significantly reduce parking hassles and improve traffic management in the city.
