Kudumbashree Palakkad District Mission has set an Asian record in the Talent Record by organising a mega training program on creating value-added products, including decorative items, from inorganic waste. As part of the Malinya Muktham Nava Keralam campaign, the District Mission conducted a training program titled 'Upcycling Art' at Palakkad Kotta Maithanam. A total of 358 Kudumbashree members, aged between 18 and 65, participated in the program. The training utilised various waste materials such as plastic bottles, LED bulbs, paper cups, fabric scraps, straws, and glass bottles. A team of 33 trainers led the sessions. Those trained in this phase will undergo advanced training, enabling them to conduct upcycling art workshops at the block and panchayat levels in the future. Additionally, ayalkoottam members can generate income by selling the upcycled products. The raw materials for these products are sourced from waste collected by the district’s Harithakarmasena members, providing them with an additional stream of revenue.
