Wayanad Medical College earns national MusQan certification for child-friendly excellence
Wayanad Medical College has achieved MusQan certification, a national quality recognition for excellent child-friendly services, with a score of 95 percent. MusQan aims to reduce the morbidity and mortality of newborns and children and ensure quality child-friendly services in public health centers for children from birth to 12 years of age. It covers all important aspects of children's growth and development, including physical, mental, and social development. The MusQan project focuses on improving the quality of SNCUs, NBSUs, postnatal wards, and pediatric OPDs.Earlier, Kozhikode Government Medical College's Mother and Child Care Center received MusQan certification with a score of 96 percent. With this, two hospitals in the state have received MusQan certification. Kerala is the first state in the country to implement the Mother-Child Friendly Hospital Initiative Certificate. Recently, Malappuram Kottakkal Family Health Center was adjudged the best primary health center in the country for achieving the highest score (99) in the National Quality Assurance Standards (NQAS).A total of 175 hospitals in the state have received NQAS accreditation, while 76 have been re-accredited. With the cooperation of people's representatives and local institutions, efforts are underway to ensure quality in taluk and district hospitals.
